About Me
Caleb Dowe is a self-taught artist based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He primarily uses acrylic paint pens, fine-tip ink pens, and brush pens to create detailed intuitive drawings on paper or canvas. The images, symbols, and abstract forms that surface in his work feel as though they rise from a place deeper than thought. His inspiration draws from ancient spiritual art, personal introspection, and intuition.
The Philosophy
"Art is both my grounding force and my outlet. With an inherently active mind, the act of drawing serves as a vital therapeutic reset. Every line represents an exchange: quiet focus in place of anxiety, structure in place of internal clutter. As the canvas fills, the process shifts my perspective, pulling me beyond the immediate moment and connecting me to something far larger than myself."
